Quality roofing materials alone do not guarantee a long-lasting roof. Proper installation methods are just as important as the shingles themselves.
Recently, we replaced a fairly new roof that had experienced severe wind damage. The shingles used on the home were quality products and should have performed well under normal conditions. Unfortunately, the original installation was done incorrectly. The nails were placed too high on the shingles instead of within the designated nailing strip. In addition, the nails were driven too deeply because of excessive compressor pressure, weakening the attachment points throughout the roof.
As a result, the roofing system failed much sooner than expected.
Homeowners should ask important questions before hiring a roofing company:
- Who will actually install the shingles?
- How much roofing experience does the crew have?
- Are the nails and roofing materials correct for the roofing system being installed?
- Is the focus on quality workmanship or simply finishing the job quickly?
At Casey Roofing Inc., our family roofing team works directly on every project. We take pride in performing roofing installation carefully because workmanship plays a major role in how well a roofing system performs over time.
